It started with a vision, a place where all community members could relax and enjoy food.

Idea.

It started with a joint group of students from the Entrepreneurship Zhixing, Architecture Zhixing, and College Council. We noticed that, in the fast-paced and stressful environment, community members lacked a place where they could sit down, relax, socialize, and enjoy a steamy cup of instant noodles.

Creating the vision.

With further communications with the property department and extensive fieldwork, we were able to transform our initial draft into a practical floor plan.

We brought the idea to life.

AND… Finally, over the summer, the community hotspot is no longer a virtual floorplan or presentation deck. In August 2024, the completed community hotspot awaits the returning community members and incoming students back from the summer holiday with open doors.

3 Months of convincing and iteration.

At this point, we brought the proposal to our school board members. Little did we know, this started a long back-and-forth journey of convincing and updating our ideas. However, by the end of May 2024, we were able to gain the full support of the board and departments in constructing the community hotspot and maintain the initiative as fully student led.

Understanding the demand.

We approached our community and conducted focus group sessions to collect input to create a space truly for everyone. We then put together a mood board based on the feedback we gained, and our architecture team members rendered an initial design from the textual outline.
